Big Mac No Cheese – The One-Board Quiver
America’s number one seller for a reason, the Big Mac is the ultimate high-performance shortboard designed to cater to a wide range of surfers. Whether stepping down from a bigger board or stepping up from a traditional shortboard, the Big Mac delivers a ride that paddles long, turns sharp, and works in any conditions.
Performance Without Compromise
Designed to be user-friendly on the paddle while still performing like a true shortboard, the Big Mac was developed to bridge the gap between easy wave entry and high-performance surfing. Unlike needle-nose, pulled-in tail designs, the wider tail block and fuller nose create a balanced, forgiving feel without sacrificing control in the pocket.
The single-to-double concave bottom mirrors the best performance shortboards on the market, while the flatter rocker profile ensures speed through all sections. Just enough entry rocker prevents catching in critical sections, keeping the board responsive and fast. Whether on a surf trip or a daily session at your local break, the Big Mac is built for all conditions.
Why You’ll Love It:
- High-Performance Meets Paddle Power – Added volume for easy wave-catching without losing shortboard responsiveness.
- Speed Without Sacrifice – A refined rocker and high-performance bottom contour keep it fast and lively.
- Versatile & Travel-Friendly – Designed to handle everything from beach breaks to point breaks, making it the perfect one-board quiver.
- Modern Hybrid Performance – A balance of power, drive, and agility, built for surfers looking to maximize their wave count without feeling restricted.
For surfers looking for a shortboard that still delivers paddle power, speed, and control, the Big Mac is the perfect choice. It’s ideal for those who want to rip with the younger guys, catch more waves, and enjoy every session without compromise.

Bilt Surfboards Construction Breakdown: Engineered for Performance & Durability
Bilt Surfboards are crafted with precision, utilizing premium materials and advanced construction techniques to ensure superior performance, durability, and reliability in the water. Every board is the result of expert craftsmanship and innovative design, built to meet the demands of surfers at every level.
Premium Foam Core: The Foundation of Strength
At the core of every Bilt Surfboard is Surfblanks foam, a high-quality material originally developed by the late Midget Farrelly. This exclusive foam is sourced from Australia and shaped with precision at Surfblanks SA. Known for its lightweight strength and consistency, this foam provides an ideal balance of durability and responsiveness for an optimized surfing experience.
Hexel Fiberglass: Reinforced for Performance
To enhance durability and strength, Hexel fiberglass fabrics are incorporated into every board. Sourced from Texas, USA, these premium materials offer exceptional tensile strength and impact resistance, ensuring a light yet durableconstruction that holds up against heavy surf conditions.
Glassing Process: Optimized for Durability & Flexibility
Bilt Surfboards undergo a meticulous glassing process that enhances both strength and flexibility:
- Boards up to 6'8" are glassed with a 4 oz layer of fiberglass on the bottom and a double 4 oz layer on the top deck, creating a balanced construction that maintains agility without compromising durability.
- Larger models receive an upgrade with a 6 oz layer of fiberglass on the bottom, while still utilizing the double 4 oz deck treatment, reinforcing the board for added strength and performance in bigger waves.
This process ensures a sturdy yet responsive ride, providing surfers with confidence in all conditions.
Advanced Resin System: Superior Bonding & Longevity
Each board is bonded using Silma resin, an advanced resin system developed in the United States. This high-quality resin reinforces the fiberglass layers, enhancing overall structural integrity while maintaining optimal flexibility and lightweight performance.
Polyacrathane Clear Finish: Protection & Aesthetic Excellence
A Polyacrathane clear system is applied to every board to provide a protective outer layer. This finish not only enhances the board’s visual appeal but also acts as a shield against UV exposure, saltwater, and general wear, ensuring long-lasting performance and aesthetics.
Future Fins: Precision-Engineered for Control
Every Bilt Surfboard is designed with Future fins, selected for their exceptional maneuverability and hydrodynamic efficiency. These high-performance fins optimize speed, control, and responsiveness, allowing surfers to push their limits with maximum confidence and precision.
Reinforced Fin & Tail Areas for Durability
To enhance longevity and resilience, a 4 oz butterfly tail patch is strategically placed on the bottom deck. This reinforcement strengthens the fin and box area, ensuring structural integrity even under the toughest surfing conditions.
The Bilt Surfboards Standard: Built to Ride, Built to Last
Bilt Surfboards are the result of superior craftsmanship, cutting-edge materials, and performance-driven design. From the premium foam core to the reinforced glassing process, every component is carefully selected to deliver exceptional strength, flexibility, and control. Whether carving through waves or charging heavy surf, Bilt Surfboards provide a ride that is powerful, responsive, and built to perform.
About Bilt Surfboards – The ‘Only 3’ Philosophy
Bilt Surfboards was founded on a simple question: If a surfer could only buy three more boards in their lifetime, what would they be?
Over the past five years, the surf industry has become like fast fashion—constantly chasing trends and overcomplicating what should be simple. Surfing is meant to be fun. It’s not about reinventing the wheel; it’s about designing boards that work—boards that maximize time in the water and the enjoyment of every session.
The idea for the "Only 3" concept was born on a surf trip to Mexico. California had been flat for months, and when a long-awaited swell finally appeared, a last-minute invite led to a frantic scramble for the perfect quiver. The trip ended up being 1-2 foot for an entire week, leaving a bag full of useless boards. That experience sparked a realization—why carry a dozen boards when just three well-designed shapes could handle anything from Malibu to Cloudbreak?
So, Bilt refined it down to the essentials:
✅ A shortboard – refined from Bilt’s original Spit Fire, with added volume, a round tail, and a flatter entry rocker, now known as the Big Mac.
✅ A fish – originally the BW Fish, designed over 20 years ago to help transition off longboards while keeping paddle power. It was modernized and reborn as the Whopper Extra Cheese.
✅ A mid-length – built from the best designs across the industry and tested at J-Bay, earning its name as the Double Double after proving itself on the first wave.
The Bilt Surfboards Design Philosophy
🌊 Foam is Your Friend – More volume doesn’t mean poor performance. Speed equals maneuverability, and the right rail line and curve make it possible to ride more waves and have more fun.
🚀 Speed is Everything – The key to keeping you in the water, especially on those poor-to-fair days, is a board that flies in all conditions.
🏄♂️ Surf More, Train Less – The best way to improve is to ride more waves, not take surf fitness classes. A board with a bit more volume will get you into waves sooner and let you surf longer.
At Bilt, the goal is to make high-performance, fun-first boards that paddle long and surf short. Every design is built for speed, ease, and versatility—so you spend less time worrying about what board to ride and more time riding waves.
