How Spunky’s Surf Shop Helped Raise Big Waves for Local Kids

This year, Spunky's Surf Shop was honored to take part in the Lil Feet of SLC “Hang Ten” Auction & Firefighter Dinner, where we donated a one-of-a-kind custom longboard shaped by Skip Miller of Line Drive Surfboards. The event was more than just an auction it was a night of laughter, smiles, and raising essential funds to provide aid to children across St. Lucie County.
Surf Culture Meets Community Spirit
The energy at the event was luau vibes all the way. Local families, firefighters, community leaders, and beach enthusiasts gathered to support a cause that directly impacts kids right here on the Treasure Coast. The floor buzzed with excitement as attendees bid on art and of course the custom longboard that represented the soul of Fort Pierce surf culture. Designed with the spirit of classic surf culture but infused with modern craftsmanship, it was more than just a board; it was a piece of art and a reminder of the waves that connect us all.
Speaking on Behalf of the Shop
Both Skip Miller (Shaper and Founder of LineDrive Surfboards) and Gunther Schwartz (manager of Spunky’s Surf Shop) went up to share what the donation meant to the shop and the craftsmanship behind the board. They spoke from the heart about the importance of giving back to the youth of St. Lucie County as they are the next generation of our community that'll build and continue to make St. Lucie County amazing and one of the best counties in Florida.
Thank you & Congratulations
The board found a new home with Travis from A&G Pools, who generously donated and placed the winning bid. Thank you and congratulations! We hope you enjoy this board as much as we did getting to make it in our factory at the shop! Thank you A&G Pools for supporting the children of St. Lucie County!
Every dollar from the evening went directly toward providing brand-new shoes and socks for local children in need. For many of these kids, something as simple as a fresh pair of shoes means safety, comfort, and the confidence to walk into school with their heads held high. This incredible event helped raise over $57,000 for Lil Feet of SLC.
Surfing has always taught us that small waves can build into something powerful and this fundraiser proved just how impactful a united community can be.
Spunky’s Surf Shop believes that supporting causes like Lil Feet goes hand-in-hand with keeping surf culture alive. After all, surfing has always been about more than just riding waves it’s about sharing the stoke, respecting our roots, and helping others rise.
As we continue to grow, we remain committed to giving back, hosting local events, and creating opportunities that bring joy to our community. Whether it’s donating boards, hosting parking lot parties with OkieFlo Board Emporium or supporting local artists, our mission is clear: surf, smile, support.
The Lil Feet of SLC Auction was proof that surfing is more than chasing waves it’s about community impact. Thanks to everyone who showed up, donated, and bid, kids across St. Lucie County will step into a brighter future. At Spunky’s Surf Shop, we’re grateful to have been apart of this, and we’ll continue to ride every wave of opportunity to give back.
So next time you paddle out, remember: every wave you ride is a chance to spread stoke and every board or tee shirt you buy from Spunky’s helps keep that ripple of generosity alive.
