Spunky’s Parking Lot Party Was the Treasure Coast’s Surf Hangout of the Season (and What’s Coming Next)

Spunky’s Parking Lot Party Was the Treasure Coast’s Surf Hangout of the Season (and What’s Coming Next)
On Saturday, October 11 (10am–3pm) we turned our lot at 1403 N US Hwy 1, Fort Pierce, FL 34950 into a surf history pop-up: vintage boards, local makers, shaping stories, and community vibes for all ages. The weather held, the stories flowed, and the stoke was real. Even better—we’re doing it again for Small Business Saturday this November (details below).
Whether you came to swap a board, meet legends, or pick up gear, here’s what made the day unforgettable—and how to be ready for the next one.
The Day’s Highlights
1) Legends in the Bay: Bill Foote × Skip Miller
Iconic Hawaii shaper Bill Foote and local master shaper Skip Miller (Line Drive Surfboards) hung out in our shaping bay trading stories about the Islands, design progression, and “the way it used to be.” One goosebump moment: OkieFlo Board Emporium surprised Skip with a Line Drive he shaped ~50 years ago in California—still in gorgeous condition. Skip admired every rail and rocker, reflecting on how far he—and surfboard design—have come.
2) Vintage Surfboard Showcase by OkieFlo
OkieFlo rolled up with single-fin time capsules, retro longboards, and rare Florida gems—a museum-on-wheels that let groms and vets hold history in their hands. As founder Jeramiah Meschkat put it, it was a “rad day, a birthday celebration, and a chance to meet legends.” Couldn’t agree more.
3) Local Makers, Real Community
Salty Sisters Co. brought an adorable booth full of bracelets, mini art, and surf-skate vibes—from Bible-verse postcards to Darth Vader shredding with storm troppers. Little ones crafted bracelets alongside the artists—total family energy.
Bites of the Break (our own Brooke from Team Spunky’s) showcased hand-collected Florida shark teeth and her one-of-a-kind shark tooth jewelry—every piece tells a beach-day story.
4) Boards for Every Style: Savage Surfboards & Plastic Fantastic
From mid-length sweet spots to classic log glide, Savage Surfboards and Plastic Fantastic brought a quiver you could literally see yourself riding.
5) The Swap That Sparked New Sessions
Boards we're being traded in and sold: upgrade your ride, keep boards in the water, and match shapes to skill—without breaking the bank. We saw happy trades, smart sales, and plenty of “this one’s the one” faces. We launched our Pre-Black Friday sale on select boards and was stoked to get people geared up and on some killer deals before the chaos of Black Friday!
6) Smile for the Camera
Frank Moore the king of capturing the surf culture of the Treasure Coast was on site taking pictures of the vintage boards the smiles and capturing the stories being shared with everyone! Big thank you to Frank for coming out and capturing these pictures! To see more and through the lens of Frank Moore check out his gallery.
7) Community, Connection, and the “Why”
Surfing is a lifestyle. We watched strangers become lineup friends, kids were laughing and playing the shops pac-man game, and legends inspire the next generation. That’s what a Spunky’s Parking Lot Party is about—stoke that sticks.
